We are saddened to report the passing of Norman Tottenham-Smith at the age of 101.
We featured Norman, known affectionately as ‘Totters’, when he turned 100 in the August 2023 bps news. We understand that he was delighted with our good wishes last year and remained his age-defying, outgoing self in his New Hampshire retirement home right up to his 101st birthday (4 March 2024). This he celebrated with a special cake and with some of his family present. Thereafter, he suddenly sank and died a week after his birthday, conscious, calm and at peace to the last. He was a widely respected and greatly liked colleague, ever a loyal friend, and we send our deepest condolences to his family.
