Len’s letter to bps news reads:
‘I read with interest the stories of those lucky enough to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary and sadly the names of those who have recently passed away.
‘Well Marlene and I celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary on 1 April and we hired a huge barn that had enough accommodation for the whole family including sons, daughter and spouses, grandchildren and great grand children. We had lots of cards and even one from the King and Queen to celebrate our Diamond Wedding and not many have that honour.
‘Above is a picture of Marlene and I at Symonds Yat Rock and below is a group photo of us all on the steps of Penblaith Barn. As you will see we are a very diverse family. I send this to remind the BP retirees that I have known for many years, that I am still around and would welcome contact from any that wish to say hello.
‘In case it helps I worked in retail from 1966 to 1998 initially for National Benzole and then for BP in the Birmingham region and then out of the Milton Keynes office. I continued working as a consultant to the retail disposals team for another 7 years which was great fun.
‘Best wishes to all my old colleagues in retail. Len Gale.’
